Married with a one-year old daughter, has lived in Rougemont for the past 7 years. "I have served on the board for the six years and I am in a unique position as the 4-H program also receives funds from our local United Way. Therefore, I get to see all of the people that United Way is affecting and helping every day and I am aware that all of the agencies that United Way funds is doing some wonderful work and that each of us is touched by the United Way in some fashion whether it is knowing a child in 4-H or the Scouts, seeing someone you know receive assistance from the Christian Help Center, knowing someone who received blood from the Red Cross, etc. I am proud to say by serving on the Person County United Way, I am helping to make our community the best it can possibly be. And if you don't feel that your donation makes a difference, come and visit our 4-H program and see how many children we are helping and teaching."

I am retired from what was GTE, AT&T and Sprint. My present occupation is running a small publishing company. I am on the board because I believe the management experience I gained during 42 years of varied telephone company assignments prepared me to help guide the United Way in their mission to efficiently channel charitable donations in directions where they will do the most good. ebalston@esinc.net
