Dear Community Partner,
As we begin our 40th annual Community Campaign, it is worth reflecting on Person County United Way’s simple and profound mission: “Provide leadership in uniting the community to actively identify and fund specified critical human needs.”
When you read this note, we hope you will pause just for a moment. Think how deeply you care about your neighbors and your community. Consider how you can help make our community stronger by improving people's lives.
The caring part is easy. The doing part is a bigger challenge. Where is the greatest need? How can I make a real difference? How will my impact be sustained? How will I know if I have succeeded?
Your United Way is committed to meeting these challenges. Each year, a broad, diverse and committed group of community volunteers reaches out to the entire community to identify and evaluate the most critical needs. Your contributions are invested in programs and community partnerships that are chosen for their demonstrated ability to provide help where it is most needed and to account for the results.
The results are inspiring: keeping the elderly in their homes by providing meals; helping families prepare their preschool children for school by providing books to children ages birth to 5; keeping children safe after school by providing a safe and fun place to hang out; providing critical emergency services during and after disasters; and mobilizing literally hundreds of volunteers to assist our local non-profit agencies.
The participation of your business in Person County United Way’s community campaign is the foundation of all of these efforts and successes. When we ask our co-workers to contribute, we know we have a positive, lasting impact on our community. People's lives are changed and we know our giving inspires others to contribute. We all know that the success of our community depends on a healthy Person County, and that we can all make a difference when we support community problem solving. That's why we give. We hope you will do the same.

We are honored to serve as this years campaign co-chairs for United Way. The partner agencies that United Way supports make such a huge difference in our community every day and it is a pleasure to work on their behalf. This is an exciting time for the Person County United Way.
